About Me
As you might have guessed, I am married to that beautiful woman standing in front of me. That’s a great story in itself; one which you will learn more about as you continue reading of the events, circumstances, and experiences that God brought into my life over the years.
Well, back to “About Me”. My name is Robert (Bob) Arnold. I was born in Daytona Beach, Florida, (a real Florida “Cracker”) but my middle and high school years were in Naples; located on the Gulf coast adjacent to the Everglades in Southwest Florida.
As a kid, my parents encouraged my independence and, at 14, I often headed out into the Glades; leaving at dawn and returning at sunset. When not hunting, I loved to fish with my Dad or, if by myself, to head out to the Naples pier for the day. Otherwise, I would be found playing basketball at the municipal park, running my paper route, reading the latest science fiction book, or engaging in my least favorite activity, school. All-in-all, I think I had a fairly normal childhood and a great time. Like many, upon graduating high school, I went off to college.
It was during the first year of college, in 1964, that I asked an eventful question one night: “God what is the answer?”. That event introduced a new element in my life; one which refocused my life away from college for a time, led me to drop out of college, and to begin to seek God. You will learn more about that change in my focus as you read the life-changing experiences that subsequently occurred and are described in this website.
Between 1964 and 1969, I filled the time with odd jobs, volunteered for the draft, the Army, and served a tour of duty in Viet Nam. It was also during this interval that God began to reveal and introduce himself to me. Although it is a little out of place in this “About Me” page and I did not know it back in 1964, I will take a moment to say that God’s revealing himself to me is not unique. In fact, God has made a promise, a promise one might go so far as to call a precept, that if you seek him, he will reveal himself to you. That promise is contained in multiple scriptures in both the Old and the New Testament.
In 1969, I made a career choice and returned to college with a goal of becoming an electrical engineer. I graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering in 1984.
While in college, 1972, I met my wife; a woman God showed me in a dream seven years previously. Pat is literally the “women of my dreams”; a wonderful wife, a great mother, and a person of character and principle. We have four living children; reflected in the photo above (left-to-right: Caleb, Pat and I, Misty, Gabriel, and Nathaniel). We lost two, twins Daniel and Joseph, but now, knowing the reality of God, expect to see them again before too much longer.
As you read of the events described in this website in which God has revealed himself to me (and to Pat as we traveled along together) you will have a much clearer picture of myself and Pat than what is described on this “About Me” webpage.
As a side note, I would like to acknowledge the work of Megan Chichester, the illustrator of the drawings used in this website, for her work and efforts in developing and drawing the illustrations. Megan, with very little input from me, developed the inspiration for each drawing from a review of each of the events described in this website and, putting pencil to paper, brought that inspiration to life. Her illustrations are as important to the presentation of the events described in this website as are the descriptions themselves.
I would also like to acknowledge the work of WPTallahassee, a Tallahassee, Florida, based web-design firm, in helping me with this website. Their assistance was invaluable with some of the higher level WordPress, HTML, and CSS coding needed for this site. I was in a real jam until they stepped in and resolved the problems I had run into. Should you have need of a web-design firm, click on the link and check them out.
