To demonstrate the importance of one's relationship to God over that of a man of God

6 - My questions: God's answer!

As you know, from reading of the previous events and experiences, through which God led me to find the church Naples, it was clear to me that this was the church I should attend.  That being the case, I had some questions.

The  following Sunday after finding the church God showed me in a dream, I came to church loaded for bear.  I said to myself that this was a church that God had showed me and I intended on getting all of my questions answered.  Not to say I intended on talking about the problem of the  fear I was dealing with; that remained too personal for me to talk about.

During the church service, my mind was focused on the questions I intended to ask the pastor as soon as the service was over.  That’s all I

was thinking about when, during the middle of a song, the pastor stopped and said: “Look not to man for an answer to your questions.”

Now that’s a really strange coincidence I thought to myself and maybe God has something to do with it.  So, I prayed: “God, are you talking to me?”  I had no sooner finished that silent prayer when the pastor said again: “Look not to man for an answer to your questions.”  Now, this is really getting my attention but still not being persuaded, I prayed again: “God, are you talking to me?”  Again the pastor said: “Look not to man for an answer to your questions.”

In the face of this, I connected the dots as they say and decided I would not ask the pastor the questions I had come prepared to ask.  I said “Okay God, I won’t ask the questions I was planning to ask.”  Then the pastor said: “for the Lord your God will answer all your questions?”  And began the the song service again.  Most strange I thought but I did decide not to ask questions of this pastor or anyone else but to look to God for any answers I was seeking.

For the next few weeks, my life went on as normal.  But I still fought the problem of the fear and looking for a way out of this fight.  It was a real motivator.

During the following couple of weeks, I had some choices to make.  Choices, I have since learned, are the most important elements of our life and can make or break our future.  Check out the next page, “7 – Choices: honoring and trusting God!”

Notes

What do I make of the experience I had with respect to my intention to “get all my questions answered” and God’s answer “Look not to man for an answer to your questions”.

First, it reflects another way that God may communicate directly with us.  He may directly respond to us through another person; in this case it was the pastor of the church.  But clearly God wanted to ensure that my focus remained on Him.  As important as a man (or woman) of God may be in terms of God’s kingdom, it is important to recognize that God is to remain our focus.

But to the point….has God answered all my questions?  That answer is yes and, in the doing of it, He answered questions I had not even thought to put to him.  Not only that, He did it in the best way possible;  by involving himself directly in my life through the experiences shared in this website.  Be sure to check out the link God’s answers! for a list of the questions that God answered.

So what to do when you have a question or a need?  The answer….first look to God with your question or need and ask Him for help.   A silent prayer is more than sufficient to reach God’s ears.

What do you do after you have prayed and are waiting for an answer?   The scripture says this: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”.  And the scriptural promise is this: “But they that wait upon the lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Taken together what does this say?  The answer is very direct: acknowledge God, pray for direction rather than leaning to your own understanding first, trust him, and He will direct your path.  Sometimes God’s answer is immediate, as you have seen when reading some of the events described on this website.  Sometimes God’s answer is down the road a ways as you will also see when you read the events described on this website.

The scriptures below offer the promise of God’s help in a time of need.

A couple scriptures

Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV) “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”

Isaiah 40:31 (KJV) “But they that wait upon the lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
